Predictable and boring.
Also, THE “ROMANCE” WASN’T NEEDED.

I had such a fun time with this! I love when you pick up a book randomly and it just does everything you wanted from it.

I thought this was an engaging story which was really at its a core a mystery with a fantasy backdrop. It was unexpected as this was a good old whodunnit and it just reminded me how much i enjoy a mesh of those two genres. I couldn't put the book down, I wouldn't say it was the most action-packed story or anything but something about the way it was told with the various POVS, as well as the interesting plot twists made for a real page-turner.

The way that the author subverted my expectations on multiple occasions was great to watch unfold. For example when I assumed there are two different timelines happening at the same time for a large part of the book until your realise that isn't actually the case.

This wasn't the most overcomplicatrd, nuanced tale ever told but I say that as a compliment. It set out with a target and acheieved it imo. A perfect palette cleanser in between a chunky series or a heavy- hitter of a book.

I had no expectations whatsoever when I came into this book, especially since it has been part of my physical TBR for so long (I think I had this book since 2019 😮‍💨).

It was a nice book, not too bad and not too good. I think because I got exposed to better YA books since I bought this one, I got influenced by their superiority. But Four Dead Queens is in no way a bad book, it just lacked oomf and flavor. It had a very nice premise, but I felt like the heroes won too quickly and the ending got wrapped up too easily, and forgiveness was accepted too fast considering the actions that were forgiven.

I enjoyed Keralie and Varin's interactions as well as their relationship, but it also felt like it needed more development to achieve the point where we left off at the end of the book. Mind you they got together after barely knowing each other for a couple weeks, and we are already hearing sounds of never letting each other go. But at least I appreciate the fact that Keralie will wait a bit before love-bombing my poor Varin because of his upbringing and the lack of experiencing emotions throughout their lives.

I was actually shocked that they ended up being three dead queens and not four, since our girlie Queen Marguerite did not end up dying from ingesting poison. That truly did surprise me.

All in all, it did take me some time to finish this book, and it was a good average one. I can finally say I finished a book I had with me for 6 years 🥳🥳

Wasn't in the right mindset for world building. Will come back.

It was not what I was expecting, however it was a very well-written book. Though it's not what I typically read, I enjoyed parts of it.

Initially, I didn't like the main character Keralie, but she grew on me by the end. Varin was definitely a favourite of mine, as well as Queen Marguerite. The ending was definitely not what I was expecting. Well done!

muy guay y me ha enganchado bastanteee

I wanted to be more invested in the mystery, but the politics and laws of the land didn't make a lot of sense and felt like contrivances to make certain plot points happen. I enjoyed the insights into the queens' lives more than the criminal life of the main character, or Varin, who didn't seem fully developed for much of the story. The final resolution wasn't wholly satisfying, nor the reasons behind the murders.
