I loved this book, it was amazing and not what I had expected. There was a lot of this book that I started suspecting something about characters and events and than found out that I was completely wrong about. This is a perfect stand alone book with an amazing plot (along with plot twists), amazing diversity of characters and the way the author set out the world was so interesting.

BOOK COVER: 5 Every where I see this cover it always stand outs to me and I have to remind myself I already have the book and to walk away from the pretty cover.
RATING: M, id say around 12 and older. There wasn't anything huge to make it a mature book but the understanding of the book I don't see anyone under 12 getting it or really being interested in it.
FAVE CHARACTER: Varin, emotionally stunted robot who has his secrets
OVERAL: Bloody amazing wish there was more books from this world and the characters in it
WOULD I READ MORE FROM THE AUTHOR: Yes OMG yes
RECOMMEND: Everyone there is a little bit of everything in this book that would draw close on all I into loving it.

I'm sure all of you have books where you read the synopsis and go, this sounds amazing! And then it sits on your shelf... forever (for context I have a hardcover of this book). Like its not the books fault or anything, but as a mood reader some books gets ignored.

I've put off reading this a couple times, and I can understand why when I have fantasy ARCs to read, but my friend and I were speaking about how cool murder mysteries are when they are set in "fantasy settings" or otherworldly settings, so I decided to read this, and honestly it was really good!

Personally, I think I would've preferred this if it was adult and in the queen's POV. They were my favourite part of the book, their characters so well developed (more than the MC's in my opinion) and just in general made everything more enticing. It could've had more gooey details, focuses more on the queen's day to day lives, etc..

THE WORLDBUILDING. I am such a worldbuilding girlie (even though I avoid writing it myself until the last minute) but it was so unique. You could tell the author put a lot of thought into it, and that it was well developed. I wish we could've seen more of it, since it wasn't the main focus. Maybe spin off?

This book is really good plot wise. For me, I read A LOT and so sometimes I feel like I can predict things a million years away, BUT THE ENDING SHOCKED ME TO MY CORE. The twists were AMAZING and truly made the book.

In my opinion, the romance was lacking, especially since the synopsis talked so highly of it. I thought it would be a main part, but there was barely any content with them, their conversations stale. I just didn't enjoy them, not because of the lack of chemistry, but because of the lack on description in their interactions.

I also didn't love the main character, but I can live after the plot twist at the end hahaha.

REASONS TO READ: amazing plot line, queen's POV, shocking twists

A parte do romance eu gostei, é fofinho

A murder mystery with a unique method of storytelling, FOUR DEAD QUEENS took a fresh route to its premise with interesting characters and plenty of plot twists. It followed the four ruling Queens of Quadara as they are targeted for assassination, as well as the story of young thief Keralie who finds herself wrapped up in the conspiracy.

Keralie is easy to like and root for. She has interesting relationships—both positive and negative—that add to her backstory and lead her to the different elements of the plot. The Queens are representative of their quadrant, allowing them to have different personalities. There are some romantic subplots that are explored, with Keralie's being the strongest and allowing for the most development.

While the writing is good, the pacing is fairly solid and the concept is original, I'm not entirely sold on the execution (pardon the pun). Oh, there are plenty of twists and I didn't see most of them coming, but at the end I felt myself asking: "Why?" about certain narrative choices. There were things that, while they made sense, didn't quite make enough sense for me to have felt a lasting impact. It's odd, because the stakes were there and they were very real, but I think some of the biggest twists were a little random, and certain plot lines didn't really feel resolved.

FOUR DEAD QUEENS is a good book for readers who enjoy the most unexpected of twists and a good murder mystery with a strong female lead, so I would recommend it to anyone who is curious and looking for something fun to read on a weekend.

I finished this weeks ago and somehow forgot to mark it as read or write a review. It was okay.
