Nostalgia read. So very 90s in the best way. Honestly the way middle school oksana probably lost her mind for this is so fun for me. Who knew it was a series? Not me. Will I read more? Nah but I’ll google it.

I enjoyed it...it sucked me in, which of course means I'll have to read the other books that follow it.
Cliffhanger. I knew there was going to end on a cliffhanger. The author even WARNS that there is going to be a cliffhanger - and yet I was somehow surprised when the story ended... on a cliffhanger.
Overall - not a bad book. Will I read the rest of the series? I don't think so only because 3rd person is revolting to me and I don't feel like I understand the characters fully. I don't get to be in their shoes and feel what their feeling in the same way. But again - thats totally my preference. The story was good. Interesting. I feel like the length was perfect - any longer and it would have lost it's audience.

This book had a fascinating premise but didn't pull through in terms of plot and character development.
There were so many opportunities for plot movement and growth (when she drives by her biological parents' house but doesn't go in, ect.) but instead Janie doesn't act. This would have been fine if Janie eventually developed to the point that she did act. But at the end of the novel it was her mother who contacted her biological parents and the only reason she even told her mother was because she accidentally dropped the letter and had no better option.
The major twist in the novel (that her "grandparents" had no idea she was kidnapped and she was instead kindapped by their daugther) was exposed way before the climax, adding to the lack of excitement.)
Instead of having an actual plot and actual character development, the novel consists mainly of Janie thinking (which would be fine if it wasn't the same thoughts the whole novel) and a boring romance.
