I thought the mention of Trueblood's theme song was cute. At times I couldn't see where the plot was going with this book, but it was still a very good book and worth the read. I just feel like so much more could have happened it this book. The last book left me with a feeling that the end of the series is near, and I'm not really ready for the series to be over. It was nice, for once, to see the outcome of the story didn't involve Sookie being nearly killed. I also felt like Eric wasn't himself. At the start of the series Eric does little things and the reader knows he cares about Sookie, without Sookie herself figuring it out, for whatever reason Eric didn't seem like his old self in this novel. I did like Claude in this book. I thought I'd never write those words, but it was nice to see that he has a caring side.

I have always tried to appreciate this series for what it is, and not criticize it for what it's not trying to be. Usually the results in a fun, fast read. A few books were less successful, but mostly I felt thoroughly entertained. However, with this book, the tenth in the series, I began to feel fatigue. Maybe it's due to overexposure: to these characters with a new season of True Blood, or to the whole vampire genre with the Twilight series. Still, I'm beginning to feel that the Sookie Stackhouse series has run its course, and Charlaine Harris should consider wrapping it up soon.
The ending felt rushed. The sex felt obligatory. The body count around Sookie is becoming impossible to joke away. I mean, would she not be seriously reconsidering her lifestyle choices right about now? To be fair, Sookie is aware of this problem in her inner monologue, but the new, jaded Sookie is so different from the feisty waitress who marveled at the unfamiliar and stuck to her guns when the chips were down. And of course, she must begin addressing the eternal dilemma of women who love vampires: whether to become vampire to stay with her lover forever, or to allow herself to grow old while he never changes. The Sookie of the early novels would never choose the former, but I'm not so sure about the Sookie of the later books. I would hate to see this entertaining and inventive series go the Twilight route for its ending.
There were moments in this book when Harris seemed to be tying up some loose ends from Sookie's past romantic interests (and Lord knows there are a lot of them). I hope this means that she is moving toward the conclusion of her series, or at least the series from Sookie's perspective. I still found myself smiling here and there, but I worry that those would become less and less frequent if the series continues much longer.

I do enjoy these books, but... it felt like at the beginning most of this book was spent catching up on everything from the previous book and other books from the series. I was thinking to myself "why do you need to tell me what happened in the previous book? I already know what happened because I just read it", I don't think people will pick up the 10th book in a series and start from there... but that's just my opinion. I understand that people following the series may have had to wait a while for this installment to come out but there was way to much filler of the previous book/books. Other than that I did enjoy the book. I will be interested to see where the author takes us next and when she will finish the series, I can't tell if she's getting ready to wrap it up or if we will continue on... Oh and I don't like Alcide's character anymore, he has changed so much!

This book was good, but not my favorite in the series. I enjoyed learning more of the histories of vampire characters. The mystery part of the book wasn't as intense as the last few book in the series, but I did enjoy this book.

Me resultó muy entretenido, no me aburrió, no se me hizo ni largo ni tedioso, se lee fácil.
Me da pena Sookie ya está re traumada. Matan a varias personas delante de ella y ya ni reacciona, ya tiene naturalizado la matanza de otras personas/seres y algunos personajes la siguen usando a su antojo. Es como amiga, salí de ahí.
No tenía ganas de leer mucho este libro por el título, creí que Jason iba a ser el muerto, o que ella también se moría. Después de los horrores que pasó, no quería que sufra más.
También llegado al punto cuando va a visitar a Bill y vé su aspecto y que no mejora, esperaba que éste se muera en al ún momento, pero no lo hace, fue decepcionante.
Me gustó el gesto que tuvo con Caroline Bellefleur
En fin. Seguiré leyendo la saga ya voy 10/13 (son muy adictivos estos libros) y no puedo no saber cómo va a terminar.
