The Husbands is such a fun concept with the attic that keeps delivering new husbands for Lauren. It had the potential to explore so many issues in dating and relationships: the ways we adapt our own interests to fit our partner, how having too high expectations can ruin a relationship, the difference between the honeymoon stage vs a happy marriage, and so much more. But I think it got a little bogged down by its own concept. There was just too much repetition with the husbands — Gramazio could have cut out a lot of them and still had the same story. And some of the characters raised issues with the world-building that were never resolved, and left me wanting to know more about how everything worked. I did think the ending was perfect.

This book also got bonus points for having a side character named Noemi since I have a kid with that name and people think I made it up.
