Though I liked the first one, the second was basically the exact same format. Kinda like Harry Potter before it really took off. Year one.... year two... etc.

I think I was expecting too much after liking the first one so much.

First of all, there are too many characters. Seven new ones are introduced fairly quickly and that's a lot to keep track of. Then there was a fair amount of time spent on creating Milo's alternate character, which I didn't find all that interesting. What saved it was that the resolution was fairly satisfying.

This is a beautiful book! I enjoyed it even more than the first book in the series! The mystery is fun, but the characters are the best part of this book.
