I like the story a lot. The writer chose a lovely cover for the book. Choosing the characters and Gabriel’s characters descriptions was rather interesting. I must say that the synopsis of the story is a wonderful tease for the historical romance readers out there. I enjoyed the plot of the story, where Gabriel and Octavia run through the halls of their mansion searching for the one piece of critical documentation that will change either one of their lives in the future. The entertainment for me came from when along this hunt, Gabriel and Octavia get familiar with each other, then this leads to a wonderful romance. The book is easy to read and a good page turner. Until next time my fellow readers… read on!

This is book five in the Hazards of Dukes series by Frampton but I haven't read the other books and was able to follow along pretty well so would say this can be read as a standalone.

I enjoyed this book. When Olivia shows up at her old village to claim her inheritance, Gabriel is there to prove the he is the rightful owner of the property. The characters were interesting and I loved how their relationship developed over the time they were together searching and trying to prove the other one wrong. Of course, they can't stay all alone in a house in the country so they agree (kind of) to be engaged while they search for the proof they need.

If you're looking for a quick and engaging historical romance, definitely pick this one up. I look forward to more from Megan Frampton.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.

I'm so glad Octavia finally got her story. Her and Gabriel were quite the perfect match and I loved the fake engagement vibe. I also liked that their story was fully their own. Like Ivy and Sebastian didn't show up until later and I think it worked well here. The new characters were great, and the found family energy was exceptionally cute. They also turned up the steam factor and that was enjoyable. I would have loved more of a closing to the overall series but I really liked this book regardless.

The perfect book to illustrate the saying (and trope!) “opposites attract”. Octavia, the heroine, is very impulsive, lively and reckless, while Gabriel is kind, soft-spoken and very controlled… But very hot as well! I so adore a sexy scholar! And of course the book “works” quite well because of this difference in temperaments. Sparks fly and hilarious situations abound. Add to the mix delightful internal dialogues and lovable side characters and you’ll have a very enjoyable book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book is the perfect low stakes read that I really needed this week! I think Octavia is a character we can all relate to (who hasn’t made a massive mistake in their lifetime). Gabriel is such a heartwarming hero who brings the perfect amount of spice in the bedroom. What I loved most about this book is the development of what happens when a person becomes your place. I also really enjoyed all of the different Greek mythology tales told throughout. Gabriel is a scholar who studies Greek mythology and the tales are used as a communication tool throughout the book as Gabriel tells the household a new story every night. I thought it was a really clever way to incorporate his passion into the story. I would recommend any Frampton fan to read this, but also anyone who loves historical romance and needs a low conflict read right now!

Thank you Net Galley and Avon for allowing me to read an advanced copy for an honest review!

A great summer read

Following Octavia from London to rural Greensett, we meet Gabriel, assorted friendly staff, and a fun predictable romance. This is a long lazy afternoon read, leaving me with a grin and a giggle. I received this book as a Goodreads giveaway and this is a fair review.

I really enjoyed Octavia and Gabriel and how their story unfolded. They form their own little-found family and enjoy each other's company whenever they get time alone.

Following the death of her father, Octavia returns to her former home to clean it up and sell it. The money from the sale will help her repay the loan she took to renovate her gambling hell. But when she arrives she finds the house occupied by Gabriel Fallon.

Gabriel has a letter stating his father had won the property from her father. He could send her packing but agrees to let her stay, so she can find proof of who owns the house. She has four weeks to find proof.

That means lots of time together, getting to know each other. The more time they spend together means it will be more complicated when it's time to say goodbye. Even if they are both in love with one another.

Thanks so much to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC to review.
