Jean-Paul Sartre's classic of existentialist theory, and also one of the most commonly misquoted pieces of philosophy ever(for the line "hell is other people"). The greatest surprise of this for me was how entertaining this proved to be despite its relatively cryptic interior, with sly humor and three fairly well developed characters to anchor the play's more complex themes. The only shortcoming of the play is perhaps how cryptic it is about its purpose, and so it might be reasonable to say that it sacrifices some of its philosophical depth in favor of provocative moral quandaries and sheer entertainment value.
