Her books are quirky and cute. Super light-hearted with little angst. I love them as cozy reads. The characters are sunshine meets grumpy.

I was very excited for this release, but I could not connect with the characters. Penny was adorable but the way she speaks using acronyms was annoying and the author decided to write them in the weirdest way possible. I liked Will once he stopped being the asshole he was, but I cannot look past the fact that the first thing I read from his pov was how “annoyed” he was at his staff because they spoke to him.
I liked the way the story started but then the ending is very anticlimactic () and the first spicy scene felt very out of place for me. It’s not an awful book, I was entertained, but I kept thinking something more was going to happen (some revenge action from Stoker or from Penny’s ex friends) but it never happened.
Adult responsibilities have caught up with me and I had to put reading on pause for this month, which have made me crave every book I see, but the fact that I’m not trying to squeeze this one into any free available moment says a lot about it.

The pacing is still as wonky as the first one so I am wondering if that is partly just how Jessica Clare's writing is going to be with this world. I did, however, grow to enjoy the dramatics of the world in comparison to the first book.
I received an ecopy of this through netgalley; however, all opinions are my own.
