Solid 4 stars for These Silent Woods.

A tad predictable, but overall a very well-told survival story with a close father-daughter relationship that I adored.

Great read going into winter.

This is labeled as a Thriller, but I have to personally disagree. It did not have that Thriller Punch I was looking for. It truly read as a "feel-good" type of drama, which isn't particularly a bad thing...but not what I was holding my breath for the entire time. I felt because I was waiting and waiting for things in this story to cross that line, to finally switch on to that darker path. I gave it four stars for being a bit anti-climactic.

Even though this fell short for accomplishing a Thriller aspect. The story was absolutely fine, I felt it was paced well. It carried a strong message of humanity battling with the concept of right and wrong when faced with impossible situations. As well as, how love can drive humans to make choices they wouldn't normally make. The story was an extremely light read on the spectrum for me. Yet, I do believe that others may have a different experience and it may tip those scales of thrilling and mysterious.

I am starting to dive into more fiction and saw this book mentioned on TikTok. I figured I'd give it a try because it was hyped up pretty big on a few of the #BookTok posts I saw it on. It was a solid book. Very easy, quick, page-turning read. The end did surprise me. I hadn't seen it coming. Overall it's a good story of an imperfect man trying to do right by his daughter, messing up along the way but always trying to make things right. Although the book wasn't as good as I expected because of the #BookTok hype, it was still a solid read that I'd recommend and it may or may not have even caused me to shed a tear.
