i have a big history with this book because i read it like most mornings when in high school for a source of inspiration and guidance. It is not surprising that I loved it at the time because I did not have much experience and exposure to other school of thought, opinions, people, books.
Rereading as an adult here are my thoughts:
It has very heavy influence from Christian and bible teachings.
There are many contradictions which Paulo admits himself.
Some advice are very generic and repetitive and most are not new.
Very symbolic and parable like because I often asked myself how can this battlefield advice be applied to real life.
Some quotes are honestly not helpful nor of benefit.
Nonetheless it is an okay read for some guidance or just for pleasure/comfort. Obviously I am very biased as it had an impact in my life at some point together with the Alchemist. Just a book for winding down or chilling honestly.

بدأتها لصغر حجمها ولشهرة كاتبها وقد ظننتها رواية - فهو من كتب الرواية الشهيرة والتي لم تعجبني أيضاً "الخيميائي" فرأيت أن أجرب من جدبد معه!
بصراحة لم تشدني ولم أجد ما يجعلها رواية جيدة! فلسفة في فلسفة وكلام معجون بالنصح مما جعلها رغم صغر حجمها ثقيلة على القلب!
اللغة فيها ركاكة وده غالباً بفعل الترجمة - ولكنني قرأت الكثير من الأدب اللاتيني والذي أبهرني فلا أدري لماذا لا يعجبني الآن! فتوصلت إلى نتيجة أن الكاتب هو السبب! وأنني لن أنسجم مع رواياته أبداً
واكتشفت أنها ليست رواية انما خواطر للكاتب - فلم أكملها!
