"I have no illusions about happily ever afters—I know life will bring its challenges and nothing is forever—but I hope we might be happy today, and for as many todays as we are lucky enough to have."

Laura knows love stories, they are her job after all. While on a business trip to write about her parents' love story, she ends up with the wrong suitcase. Curious, she looks inside and realizes the contents align with her perfect man. It must be fate, it must be "love at first luggage." She embarks on a quest to find her suitcase man and discover more about her parents in the process.

This was such a charming and delightful read! I loved the setting; I'm now in love with the island of Jersey and want to live there. Ok maybe just visit. The characters are fun, likeable, quirky, and insightful. Yes, this is a love story. Yes, this has humor. But I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and wisdom, touching on not only love but also self-discovery and loss. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a romance with more substance.

Okay, so I just finished this book and my heart is still doing that fluttery, happy dance thing. This book feels like a movie! I am not exaggerating at all. For all the Bollywood fans out there: This. Book. Is. For. You. Imagine “Jab We Met” in paper form, but let’s not get ambitious here, it is a bit too western for it, but the main idea remains the same.

So, any HIMYM fan? I’ve got something for you. One of the characters is named TED. Yupp!! He is soooo likeable for real. A slow burn, the confusion, the backstory, everything is perfectly balanced. I does get slow at times, but it doesn’t bore you at all.

I mean, the characters are adorable, like puppies in human form. Laura is our main girl. She's got dreams, insecurities, and a suitcase full of accidental romance. In short. She is a hopeless romantic (well, a lot of readers are gonna relate with her in that case). She believes in unexpected love stories and old school romance. Talk about a plot twist! I was hooked from the moment she realized she'd grabbed the wrong bag.

The starting chapters are fun and plot building indices but as the story proceeds, the tension builds up exactly how it should build. There are some late introductions of a few characters as well, but they leave their impacts just fine. And the islanders? A bunch of quirky, lovable characters who added so much charm to the story.

It is such a feel good book! I mean, you can literally feel the happy moments. I often found myself smiling while reading those scenes, it was like experiencing them first hand.
Ps: I am a hopeless romantic and no matter how much I try to avoid romance, this genre get me every time. Guilty!

And can we talk about the ending? It was perfect. Just the right amount of sweet and satisfying. There are moments when you feel bad for the characters as well, but the protagonist, Laura is stuck in that dilemma as well.

If you're looking for a book to escape reality, this is it. It's like a warm hug on a rainy day, or a giant chocolate cake when you're feeling down. Trust me, you won't regret it. I'm still buzzing from the afterglow of this book, and I’m already planning my next read. But let's be real, it's gonna be hard to top this one.

This one was much better than the other Cousens work I read. I enjoyed the characters, and although I am not a fan of the love triangle scenarios, I thought this was not too angsty. I also thought some of the “allowable affairs” were a little weird, but I don’t know that it distracted from the story too terribly much. Overall, it was not a bad read.
