As some of you may already know, I am not fond of change. So, I get a little hesitant when trying out new authors. However, when reading the blurb, I thought I'd give Kayla Baker a try. From the very beginning, I was sucked in. I could not put this down! I really felt for Gabriella and Abel. They both have been through some of they're own traumatic experiences. Besides the mystery and intrigue, there's growth and healing. Ugggh, this was waaay too good. Definitely, would love to check out more from this author!

I'm not even sure how to start this review. All I can really say is holy crap my mind is blown with this story.

If I'm being honest, I thought I was not really going to like this story at all. While the blurb sounded interesting, it started off rather slow for me and I was finding it somewhat hard to get into it. I will say however that I was glad that I stuck with it because this really blew me out of the water. The characters, the plot twists, the story line itself are all so beautifully crafted that once this story really gets going, you are hooked and in dire need to find out what happens next.

The best way that I can describe this story is if Jekyll and Hyde were a love story with a ton of spice thrown into it. This story is tragic, especially when you look at Abel's childhood and all that he endured- a good chunk of it is implied but that doesn't make it less tragic and could be triggering to some so I would 100% read the warnings before picking up this book because there are quite a few that I can think of. Gabriella, our FMC, really embodies what it is like to suffer a loss of someone who means so much and someone who one could be so connected with. The weaving of the past and the present in this story really gives the reader a great picture of the life they were both living in each other before this tragic past and the life they now have to navigate at times without each other.

The spice in this story is also something that should not be taken lightly. There are sweet, tender moments and then there are moments that really just rock your world in terms of the rawness of these two as a couple. The will they/won't they is drawn out really well and makes for moments that make you want to scream as you are reading because you want them together so badly.

Overall, this was a fantastic read, one that I was certainly surprised by. This is certainly in my top 10 for 2023 and one that I will forever wish that I could read for the first time over and over.

AMAZING!!!!!!

This truly is an amazing love story!
