gran libro para que no se nos olvide que tenemos que soñar siempre con mundos mejores <3

3.75 - Took a little while to get into the rhythm of the story, though when I did, it certainly paid off. Exploring the paradoxical worlds of Anarres and Urras through the eyes of Shevek was most interesting. I appreciated his voice as a scientist, being analytically and logic driven. Particularly in deeply human moments of both beauty and brutalism, where the grey areas of the two contrasting political and social reality’s arose and logic thrown out.

This book is not an easy read- but it certainly made me think..and think… and think.

It is not a plot driven story, but it is not really about the characters either. It is, instead, about ideas. It is about walls and what they keep out as well as what they keep in. It is about freedom and how the illusion of that can make you feel free when you are, in truth, very restricted by the invisible constraints of social convention. It is about time and how it is both happening simultaneously and in sequence (like a book is a whole story and all the parts told in order). It would be a great book to talk over with others as there are so many ideas to discuss. It is not a book that moved me or made me feel as some books do…but it is one that will stick with me for a long time.
