One of the best sci-fi novels that I have read. I loved this story! Le Guin's honest view of Anarchism is enlightening. She does not write about an utopian society. Freedom comes with a cost. Freedom is not safety. But it is freedom. Anarchism is a continious revolution. It is about the process not about the end.

Couldn't get into it. Didn't finish.

DID NOT FINISH

DNF because the library wants it back + I just haven't had much time to read this month. Only read Rocannon's World.

Starts off feeling pretty dated-- and it is very much a product of the 1970s SF scene-- and it is a *bit* heavy on the social commentary (i.e. using SF as a mirror of the ills of Earth society) but the storytelling and characters kept me intrigued. Reminded me (vaguely) of The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand (struggle of the creative individual vs. the collective). Also, towards the end, reminded me of Becky Chambers, leaving us a glimmer of hope.
