Thought I’d like it as it was sold to me as a fear of form! A memoir of sorts of their life and literature, but not for me rn.

The first time I tried to read this book I couldn't get into it.  Then I listened to the audio (read by the author) and it captured my attention.  I alternated listening and reading for a delightful experience.  It is a strange format -- 7 separate chapters which seem autobiographical, all having to do with the narrator's relationship to books, stories, and writing.  Along the way, she explores lots of other topics - mainly feminist in nature, but very honest and reflective (not preachy or cliche).  The chapters double back on each other, to the point where you feel like you are following threads, and you get a thrill out of hearing a phrase or idea repeated somewhere you didn't expect it.  The writing is poetic stream of consciousness.  Some people might be turned off by the seemingly random shifts in POV (first person singular and plural, third person, second person) but I relaxed and enjoyed it.

Loved it. I think I'm in the minority that preferred this to Pond.

I can see myself liking this book, but I’m coming out of a slump and currently this feels a bit meandering to me. Will come back to it when I’m feeling more focused
