I didn’t enjoy this book as much as others in the series. There was a lot of travel adventure which dragged a bit. And no gnoles! I loved the secondary characters in the other books, but they weren’t as compelling here. The ending felt like rather an abrupt change of direction which set us up for the next in the series.

Shane and Marguerite are complete opposites. Although he’s a berserker paladin, Shane is full of self-doubt, constantly apologizing and trying to take up less space. Marguerite is a self-assured, confident spy and master of negotiation. When the two are paired together on a mission, they’ll be forced to work together amid possessed bulls, bloodthirsty raiders, and power hungry demons. This might be my favorite book of the Saint of Steel series!

Amazing how much was fit into these pages - court intrigue, spy work, battles, romance, it had it all in an engaging way. Could have more romance, feel like it too much of a backseat and then just thrown in at the end to tie up lose ends - I want to see them actually together! The Wisdom situation is definitely soo interesting
