Really well written, had me hooked throughout the whole book. Very graphically descriptive, a bit too much for me to handle at points.
I'm just recently starting to dive into the realm of mystery/thrillers and this book came highly recommended to me. I was really excited when it was chosen for a book club read!
I was reading through reviews before I started and saw quite a few low ratings due to the morbidity and disturbing descriptions. I have no triggers and love adjectives. Personally, there is no such thing as too much info, so this just made me want to read it even more!
The beginning really struggled to keep my interest (but at no fault of the author's. I blame it on the 2+ month fantasy binge I was on. It was hard to switch from the excitement of the imaginary world of magic, high fae, and dragons to a contemporary setting with realistic characters and events.) I felt there was often too much planning and building up for the climax and twists, but I just wanted to get the show on the road. It started picking up around 45/50%, especially at the end of Part V. The bomb was dropped and then pieces started falling into place. I was able to predict the majority of the remainder of the book.
Although I hated Claire, the characters in the book are generally compelling. I felt the grief of the family members, especially Sam and Helen. To know your child is dead would be traumatizing in itself, but to not have the closure and answers of what happened would absolutely leave that wound to fester. The officers kept me questioning who was dirty. As soon as I thought I had cleared someone, something they did or said would change my mind.
I really enjoyed Pretty Girls. I will definitely read more of Karin Slaughter's books!

Voldomme, 2. Virkelig lange, 3. Virkelig beskrivende. Men gode nonetheless.
