4.45 AVERAGE

The previous two instalments were so good that my expectations were exceedingly high. I’m pleased to say that Obsidio delivered :O)

While the Hypatia makes its slow return to Kerenza, we witness what has been happening on the planet, invaded by the BeiTech forces who are keeping the few remaining survivors under their thumbs, treating them like slaves. Our third ‘couple’ is introduced and this time one of them is working for the wrong side. I appreciated that the authors gave that point of view. They in fact went even further, showing how the greatest threat isn’t some alien species but humanity - how we all think our side is the right one, how the ‘other’ is wrong, whether due to their age, gender, culture, political view, position, etc. To me, this mirrored a lot of what is going on in real life...

Coming back to the story, this third instalment features the cast of all three books. Yes, this means that the third couple gets less limelight, but it all worked beautifully (apart from one tiny detail but I can forgive them for that). And we get the wonder that is Aidan once more :O)

I’ve really enjoyed this compelling trilogy. Can’t wait to see what the duo will come up with in the future.

The audio books for this series are amazing

This was a fantastic conclusion to an absolutely amazing trilogy! I’m so content with how this ended, and I’m still so in love with every single character we met along the way!

FINALLY FINISHED. SO SATISFYING.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Fantastic ending!

I got the feeling with this book that the authors knew they had to bring everything together for a finale but the story didn't lend itself to as compelling story. Books 1 and 2 each began a story line that the authors good design. But book 3 had to try to bring those story lines together and bring everything to a conclusion. The natural conflict arrived 400 some pages in, so the rest was less interesting set up and contrived action.

Usually I get really passed when authors won't kill off their characters in a war. Plot armor can be a little outrageous sometimes. But my god am I glad everybody made it through. I think I don't mind because I fell for it every single time they "killed off" a main character. It was just so convincing! And Kaufman and Kristoff killed off So Many People I honestly believed they were ruthless enough to x their own narrators. I literally jumped for joy when the parachute plot line was resolved. This is my new favorite series. It's been a while since I listened to the first book so I'm thinking about revisiting that.
Also, do yourself a favor and listen to the audio books. They have a full cast and add music and gunshots and everything and it's amazing. I can't recommend this series enough 1000/10

Loved it - great end to the series. Just felt a bit dissatisfied with the ending.
