Everyone’s right, and everyone’s wrong.
This conclusion is action-packed, generally satisfying, and beautifully written. I just... I think I've decided that The Illuminae Files didn't need to be a trilogy; the first excellent, unique book could have been a standalone and I think I will personally treat it as such from here on out.
They fight like it’s the end of the world, because it is the end of their world.
There's not all that much to say about this book that hasn't been said about its preceding books because, well, it's another thrilling and horrifying sci-fi adventure about another girl who fights back against the politically-created enemy and another boy who's not quite the fighter that people except and is absolutely head-over-heels for the girl, seemingly without hope.
I see the look in his eyes. I recognize it.
The look of a kid who’s never killed anyone before now.
The look I saw in the mirror not so long ago.

You likely won't regret reading it, and I challenge you to find a reason to put it down once you begin, but is it really a necessary read as long as you've read Illuminae (and maybe Gemina so you can meet Ella Malikova)? No.
‘Live a life worth dying for.’

i... hmm. i loved all the characters that we got to know in the previous books, and heartily enjoyed how they were developed. i also enjoyed that we got to see the beitech goons as real people. however, i unfortunately feel that this was much less tightly written than the first two books. the new characters we met felt sort of flat to me, maybe because i haven’t met them before and i’m living for rereads right now. i disliked a lot of the plot twists, ESPECIALLY the insurrection (it was obvious) and the trope that is so often repeated in this series of never letting you know if people are really dead (cuz that means i just stop caring about death). also sometimes i was confused at if they were still transcribing footage or just using that as a way to tell a story “normally;” there were some questionable things to get from just a video. i thought the ending was mostly satisfying.
AHHH! Definitely one of the best series I’ve ever read✨💫🚀🗂 ❤️

What an ending. It was twisty in the best possible way. It's got some proper shock value and I feel satisficed with how the series ended.
- AIDAN has to be one of my favorite characters at all. (all I want to read about now is some murderous AI with a soft spot for certain someone).
- The relationships are really great. Some had more time to shine than others but I loved how each one was somehow unique.
- The multiple formats elements was less a bit in this one but some of the pages were stunning and shocking.
- The humor! You could laughing out loud in a death scene. This how confused this book got me.
- It has its cliches but I really enjoyed the ride.
