Wonderful and Powerful read. I can't agree with everything Helen Lewis says, specially on modern topics, but neverless I can highly recommend this.

Decent. I liked the focus on lesser known women and their contributions to women's rights. The structure also made it very easy to dip in and out of chapters I was interested in. However, I found the author's writing style grating (saying fuck doesn't make you edgy) and many of her personal opinions lacked depth and often too bizarre jabs at "modern feminism".
Overall, I enjoyed the book, although I think this due to the stories of the difficult women, rather than the writing itself.

Enlightening and inspiring.
A lot of histories (with context) of women you may or may not have heard of (for me - mostly not).
My problem with this was that as I listened to the audio version, I have now already forgotten names (I'm quite visual in the memory department) so while I retain stories, I can't now look up the names to research further.
I'd want to read this again on paper I think.
Loved hearing about so many women through so many different times in our social history who stood up and acted in so many different ways - whether for women's and mothers' rights, against the establishment, for better sex.
Some sad moments as we learn of some of their fates, but such a wonderful collection of stories to inspire us all to make our mark in whatever way we feel might make a difference to us and for others, as we are able.
And a reminder that the term 'difficult' should never be taken at face value.

Interesting account of the lives and activism of women who by being difficult helped to bring about the advances of feminism
