3.5. The writing is great and it’s very compelling to read but I think it missed out on what it initially set out to do. I was excited to read about a woman who didn’t want kids but I felt like the whole book didn’t really show that. In fact it did the opposite and tried to show how fulfilling becoming a mother is.

The Nine Lives of Rose Napolitanois a feminist work of fiction that reminds me of the movie 🎬 Sliding Doors, but our main character has nine different lives. Some of them collide, and some of them intertwine. Donna Freitas's writing is innovative, building nine different lives for a main character who doesn't want motherhoodod. If you are a reader who doesn't like adultery in their books, this book is not for you. Both Rose and Luke are cheating on their relationships. Some lives are fascinating, and others pissed me off with the secondary characters. This book is thought-provoking because not every woman wants to become a mother, and because of cultural and social habits, people think every woman needs to bring kids into the world. There are other ways to become a mother figure without being a mother

Very poignant message - no matter the choices we make, we end up where we're meant to be. It was a little hard sometimes to keep track of which life was which but still very skillful!

always loved the idea of multiple lives we may lead based on the decisions we make and this book did a great job with said concept — even tho it took me a while to get the hang of the constant switch between the different lives

I found the protagonist deeply unlikeable -
which made me question my own biases about women who don’t want children.
