If you like monster stories and mystery this is the book for you slow enough to make you tense but fast enough that you don't feel like there's a bunch of filler
This one was okay for me. I do love a good thriller, but horror books can be hit or miss. I was surprised too see this one labeled as YA simply because I thought it was a bit gruesome. Maybe I'm just clutching my pearls thinking of middle schoolers reading this. Then again, I grew up reading Goosebumps.
Overall, the story was only okay. I thought it dragged a bit, though the premise was compelling.
I'm glad I got a chance to try out a new-to-me author, and I'd read her books again given the chance. I just think I didn't really connect with this one.

Really tense story. It reminds me of a more modern day "It" in a lot of ways. The characters were wonderful and I really enjoyed how realistically each of them reacted to a traumatic situation. There were times were I could see myself acting in some of those ways which made the characters more relatable. Darcy does a great job at creating an environment full of tension and crafting a real page turner.
