This was abysmal. I thought the premise was good -- a mysterious serial killer or perhaps evil entity killing people and stitching their bodies back together ? Right up my alley!

It sounded gory. It had mystery. I love evil entities and I love serial killers just the same. And stitching body parts together in messed up, horrifying, gut churning ways sounded like just the horror I've needed after reading a bunch of duds recently.

I could not have been more let down after just an hour of the audiobook. To be dramatic for a second, I literally dreaded my commutes to work because I knew I would have to listen to an hour of this absolute garbage.

The only interesting scenes were when the first body was found, and when it was revealed that
Spoiler Hope had lost her arm and it had gotten stitched up. Very sick!

And, oh my god, that stupid line that kept repeating. "Do you want to see something good?" No.. actually I would have preferred to LISTEN to something good for the last 11 hours. But alas I got this book experience instead.

I loved this book.
It started very slow but I came to appreciate that. The beginning of the book is very world building, we learn to live in this town where reality is (hopefully) very far from our own. We see the town through both the eyes of the teens who grew up in this town and the eyes of the teen who recently moved to this town and is grappling with the strangeness of the town. Jen, the teen who freshly moved to town, is critical of the fears of the other teens and reflected by mindset of me as the reader. I appreciated that the characters feel strongly that that ‘mystery’ is not much of a mystery and is utterly explainable. I enjoyed how the story unfolded and we all learn new information together. I’m trying to hard to give nothing away here! But I’m a hard sell for most books, I generally guess the storylines very accurately and get bored with obvious plots. And I was so utterly enthralled with this book that I finished the audiobook in one day because I enjoyed it so much.
