Absolutely loved this book and how it brought up so many returning characters but I still have so many unanswered questions!

I am a member of First to Read a Penguin Random House online group that gives you the chance as a member to read new books before they hit the shelves. I started reading this and realized that they must have been a previous story about the two main characters and after some investigation found that this was not the first Gideon book. I absolutely adore the Gideon series.

I have been riding for this character from the moment that the first book was published and I haven't looked back since.

However, I noticed that Eric Jerome Dickey's writing had changed. And I'm not sure that's a good thing.

The book is very fast paced, full to the brim with Action and that is a great thing, but i felt that some scenes were unnecessary, especially chapters from side characters that were not in the book for long. We could have easily heard their though processes during Gideon's or Medianoche's chapters. It just felt unnecessary to me.

Also, quite a few times I noticed the same things were mentioned over and over and over!!!!! Like Thelma lied to me. Thelma said this, or did that. We get it! Lol. I did not need to be mentioned so many times, even for new readers and I am sure they would have remembered it the first time it was said during the book.

It was just the lil things that had bothered me. Overall it was a great book and I loved reading about Gideon and I will continue to read this series, but I do wish that Eric would go back to basis with the series.

So I was really excited to see that there was a 5th book in the Gideon series! It is perhaps my favorite body of work from EJD. For me Gideon was a refreshing series as it was a bit different from his typical work, and even though I was disappointed by the last book I tried to read by EJD (I can't even remember the name). There was some parts of Finding Gideon that was really good, and some parts that missed the mark. For example, a scene where Gideon is engaging in dialogue with a pedophile he's been contracted to kill (huh, what hitman does that?!) and the pedophile starts explaining WHY he's one. It came across as if readers were supposed to feel empathetic toward the pedophile which was really weird. I also don't like how there are still unanswered questions regarding Gideon's history. I was really hoping this would be the last book in the series, but it doesn't seem that way. I think it's time to put Gideon to rest. I fear the series will have a Game of Thrones type fail of an ending.

I won this through a Goodreads giveaway. As much of a Dickey fan as I am- this book just didn't draw me in.

While I'm just finding out about the series and enjoyed the first couple of books in the series, This story just didn't do it for me.

Excellent Read

EJD never disappoints. At this point, Gideon feels like family. I am ready for book six. This series is definitely a must read.
