Y’all ever read a book and your final reaction is just “um…”? Because that’s how I felt about this book!

In Night Shift Witch, we follow Star, a witch who needs a job. She decides to try out the local funeral home, but things very quickly go wrong when she sees a dead body.

Well, a dead body that shouldn’t be dead. Because its a golem. And golems don’t die. They get murdered.

This book had such an interesting premise, and I was enjoying myself throughout my reading experience, but the further I got into this story, the more I started getting kinda weirded out.

For one, some of the names in this book are really similar, which made me confused at times. Especially between Robert and Richard. One of them is dead. The other isn’t. And somehow, I would get confused when the other characters talked about them. “Is this the dead guy? Well, they just said he was doing something, so I guess not.”

For two, the villain’s motives in this book were… well, let’s just be glad they were the villain. Were they kink based? Probably. Am I mentally washing my brain out with soap? Most definitely.

Night Shift Witch is the first book in a series, and while I enjoyed the world and lore introduced in this book, I’m questioning whether or not I should continue with this series.

Quick read. Straightforward story with no mystery and not much going on.
