This book, the plot, the characters and the unpredictable twists were EVERYTHING! This was my first book by the author and her writing just won me over! I wasn't expecting this book to be what it was and to be completely honest, it threw me off. In the beginning, I couldn't really understand what was going on (since I haven't read the previous books in the series and had no idea about this world), so it took me more than 30% to actually get into the book. But once I knew how unhinged Nathan was and how equally crazy Kayla was, I couldn't put the book down. Nathan was a literal psychopath and at times I kind of hated him but one moment he was demented and the other, he grew such a softie for Kayla so I couldn't really detest him. Sure he did some insane things but Kayla was equally deranged too so I still rooted for them. Nathan had met his perfect match in Kayla and I could get why he was so obsessed with her. Kayla's story was very mysterious and I did not see THAT ONE BIG TWIST coming in the end at all. Also the character development was really good, especially of Nathan. I could not ever imagine that he'd completely change but still have hints of his original persona but that did happen which is why I enjoyed reading the last few chapters and the epilogue so much! Overall, this was an absolutely thrilling read, so different from anything else I've read before and I'm looking forward to read more from Lola King. It was a page-turner but I felt like the last few chapters were rushed and the beginning was very slow, but still I highly recommend reading this book if you're into dark romances that are absolutely unpredictable.
