This was a really fast read- a bit silly as well. I think Swanson's later books are much better. Nothing really deep here and the twists were a bit "meh". But entertaining and short. 3/5.
The Girl with a Clock for a Heart is Peter Swanson's debut novel and frankly, it shows. Having read two of his other books and enjoying them, I felt that this book was not as strong as his others. The storyline was intriguing but the execution was somewhat lacking.

When a woman from George Foss’ past comes back into his life, he doesn’t know how to feel. He is slightly happy, but more leery. Liana Decter has a past that will make any man run away. Until they get under her spell. Liana recruits George to do her bidding when some bad men come after her for theft, unbeknownst to George it might just be the last thing he does.
I enjoyed this book very much. This was the first Peter Swanson book I have read. I feel that it kept me reading to find out what was happening with the case.
George was the typical case of a man falling for the wrong woman and being taken advantage of. I felt so bad for him the entire time and honestly I didn’t like Liana from the beginning. I loved that the author was able to make me have strong emotions towards his characters.
Definite 4/5 stars and I will be reading more from this author. I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review from GoodReads Giveaways.

This book sounded different and interesting, and the title definitely had me asking questions. I can say that the book kept me wondering which was good because I wanted to keep reading to see what was going on, yet I felt confused through a lot of the story and it brought my enjoyment down a bit.
The story follows George as he reunites with his university girlfriend. This book is definitely a great mystery, as the narrative tells the story of what happened when George was in university as well as what is happening in the present. I really enjoyed the build up to what happened, and learning about this woman and her back story. At the same time I felt that so much was going on and that I needed to re-read a few parts to figure out what was going on.
George was a bit of an unlikeable character for me, everything that happens to him throughout the book, I partly blame him for actually getting into these situations. He just seemed to take explanations at face value and not really think about what was going on, he just went along with it. I had problems getting through the story and believing that someone would actually go along with some of the things, especially with what George knows about this girl.
After reading this story it made me wonder what people really do to escape their past. This girl has had problems that make her just want to run away, and yet it surprises me to see what she does. The book asks the question, what lengths would you go through to escape your past? The ending of the book left me still wondering, especially about George's state of mind himself. But at the same time the ending really shocked me to think of the conclusion George comes to. In some ways I did enjoy this book, but in others I felt like I had some difficulties getting through it. This is a great book that moves quickly, and I think mystery/thriller lovers will enjoy it, in the end it wasn't completely for me.

Middle of the road entertaining thriller. Kinda cool to see the same cop from The Kind Worth Killing but that’s the most notable thing about this book.
3.75/5
A good heist-based thriller with lots of twists along the way. I've recently become a fan of conman fiction, because I don't think I have the brain power equipped to actually develop and carry out cons myself haha. I am always surprised by them. I do understand the monologuing at the very end, but it was unfortunate how everything had to be spelled out to the reader. This is the second Peter Swanson book I have read, and my question so far for him is: What woman hurt you??

Peter Swanson's second novel was an out-of-the-park success. I loved it. This, his first book, is close, but not quite there. I thought it was clever and well-written, which counts for a lot, but the whole wasn't greater than the sum of it's parts. When I could finally see the entire plot, with it's twists and turns laid out, I had more of a "huh. OK." reaction instead of "that's genius!"

Was initially intriguing but became bit of a drag half way through. ..
Persisted till the end.
This reaches me not to read the same author in a loop...
The story revolves around a very inconsistent lady who leaves behind collateral damage whereever she goes .
And her long ago college boyfriend who is dragged into her mess after a gap of 20 years of last seeing her
