dark mysterious fast-paced

Engrossing, twisty thriller that would make a great Hitchcockian movie. Be prepared to read this one in one sitting.

This one was good but his second work was better!

This book continued to keep me interested because of the sudden thrills. But I found the plateau between those thrills boring and dragful at times. I think the parts where we see George as a college student weren't bad, but overall I didn't feel that they were entirely necessary at times...

The characters here were rather amazing. The main character was well built, but those more side characters wow! I can say that I loved the creepy factor and the ever guessing factor that Liana and her accomplice brought to this novel for me.

A similar thing I found in this novel as with the first of his I read: that crippin ending though!

Overall, I would recommend this book. I can't wait for the other things that Peter Swanson brings in his third novel.

3.5 stars. This thriller will keep you interested but after reading some of Swanson’s later works, I expected a bit more of a twisty ride. Solid debut novel but I truly believe Swanson’s writing has not stopped improving since this release.

I started to write a review but then realised that, beyond "George Foss runs into an old girlfriend at a bar and she asks him a favour", everything I wrote gave away vital elements of the plot, so -

George Foss runs into an old girlfriend at a bar. She asks him for a favour and then his life spirals out of control.

For any more information, you'll have to read the book! It reminded me a bit of Gone Girl (except not as long or nuanced) in that it was both engaging and a real page turner. It's not long - I read it it one sitting - but it's thrilling, well written and fun.

This is the 4th Peter Swanson book i've read but is the first one he wrote and published which is not surprising to me. This wasn't a bad book in any means but it didn't grip me in the way his other works have, it ended up being quite a middling book for me, it's interesting to see how much he has improved other the years.

This book was good but you can definitely tell it was Swanson's first novel, his writing wasnt as polished and effortless to read. The way he changed from past to present between chapters really helped build the tension. He created some great characters but I did however dislike the main protagonist George, his own stupidity drove me abit mad.
