While there’s a voyeuristic “tell all” element to keep it interesting, my main takeaway from this book was a realization that as a culture we need to get more comfortable with death. We are scared of what we’ve never seen or experienced, and the cultural practices we’ve adopted have taken us farther from reality - and instead of protecting us it only makes us fear it more.

10/10 would read again.

It was a solid mix of exploring the morbid curiosity of the post-death processes and the philosophies behind them.

I’d recommend listening to the audiobook as it’s narrated by the author and therefore added a personable layer to her stories and it felt very authentic.

Would totally recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed Mary Roach’s “Stiff” and vice versa.

So funny and fascinating! I love Caitlin’s YouTube channel and I’ve been watching her for years at this point. This book was a work of art in non fiction. Bits and pieces of history, memoir, memories and stories with huge dose of humour and everything from the above is about death - I’M IN LOVE!
Truly deserved five stars from me. Highly recommend!
