If you're trying to figure out what social media is and how to do it right, this is the book to pick up.

Blech. Shallow.

Was hoping for a book that explored content marketing (social & native), but it was mostly truisms and case studies.

Good points, well presented and good to have them collected in such a way, but ultimately if you've been doing digital/social marketing for a while there's nothing revolutionary for you here.

it didn't occur to me before ordering this book to check its publication year. It's almost 7 years old at this point, and I wouldn't have gotten it if I'd known that. There are some generally useful Do's and Don'ts for social media, a lot of which I know by now. And there are a few helpful tid bits in regard to making your story stand out on social media. But it's such a dynamic platform that a lot has changed since this book was published. I'd read an updated version or check out current articles by this author. Overall not worth the time to read now.

Don't know what to do on twitter, facebook, instagram or pinterest? And why you should care in the first place?
This is your book. Read, learn, apply - rinse and repeat.

So helpful to me as an amateur social media marketing coordinator! Now let's pray I can actually be creative enough to produce content 😭

Gary gives a high-level analysis of mini case studies (posts) from brands that he finds on popular social networks and says what they did correctly or incorrectly. It's a decent book considering he mainly provides light commentary on already-existing content. If you want a more profound marketing book, this is nothing a marketer with social experience hasn't seen or heard before.

Some good information but overly repetitive. There aren’t enough ideas here to truly fill a book.
