This was fun and whetted my appetite for the next book, Shadow Twin. I enjoyed coming back into this world.

It's been great revisiting the characters from Black Dog and I've enjoyed the stories immensely. This is one of those collections where I finish the first story and think, "That was a lot of fun." Then I read the next and think, "Oh! That was even better. It's going to be my favorite in here," but then I read the next and that one becomes my favorite... So, you know, a great progression of excellence.

I also loved the Black Dog genetics essay afterwards. I remember a decent bit of my genetics info from various classes, but this was so concise and clear during the general intro that I wished I'd read this before my college courses. It continues into the fictional genetics of the Black Dog's world and that's just fascinating. (and still very clear and understandable) Additionally, it hints at all kinds of interesting questions and directions for future novels in the series!

The collection ends with the first chapter of the next book, Pure Magic and that made me wish I had that book in hand right now. It was a fantastic first chapter and I can't wait to see what happens next!
