So good

Ann dives head first into this heart breaking story of a mother who committed the most heinous crime any mother possibly could.

I enjoyed the book but the authors voice annoyed me and honestly felt like she couldn't read very well. I was perplexed about this.

A VERY in depth investigation into Diane Downs. At times I feel like the author gets a bit carried away with the details (all the names being thrown out gets a bit tiresome), but a very well written true crime novel!

I wanted to read this a few years ago when I first started being interested in true crime books (even though they always give me nightmares) but haven't thought much about it since. Threw it on my autumn reading list just because I figured it was probably goosebump inducing...and I definitely wasn't wrong. I've had trouble sleeping, anyway, because of an ear infection, but every time I fall asleep I wake up in a cold sweat because of this book. I'm not a child anymore, I'm not a mom, but the chilling descriptions of the way this woman talks are enough to creep me out permanently. Ann Rule is honestly the queen of true crime, and her writing vividly (sometimes a little too vividly for me) captures the horror of the crimes and the woman who committed them.
