I like this one more than The Bethroted , the way Hollis's character has developed in this book is amazing. The way Hollis's relations developed with Silas' mother and sister. With Scarlet, she is just like a sister and best friend.
My favorite part is Etan and Hollis's relation development in the story and it's so so so cute.
And I like the ending though it's complete I guess, it deserved an epilog as well.
In the first part of the story, Hollis seems to be somewhat selfish but in this book, she is completely different and towards the end, the powerful version of Hollis serves justice to her character. Similarly, for Etan's character, it serves him a good ending after what he has gone through.
The same goes for those two villains King Jameson and King Quintin
Overall the book wasn't much full of shocks. It's a very sweet and simple story and I enjoyed reading it.

Two words: Hollis+Etan. This book low key destroyed me. The story was flawless, however, the enemies to lovers was not. Etan stopped hating Hollis a little to quickly for my taste. Overall 4.7 out of 5.

I actually liked this one better than The Betrothed. The sniping remarks between Etan and Hollis are just humorous and entertaining. I enjoyed the family and country aspect of this story as well.

[a:Kiera Cass|2987125|Kiera Cass|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1318605410p2/2987125.jpg] Kiera Cass: it is not okay to use slurs in your writing. You used the g-slur multiple times and played into stereotypes about that community. To get your work published with this word, you risk harming members of that community. You risk perpetuating those stereotypes and that language in another generation, even as one generation has been working hard to combat discrimination. I, as a reader, was incredibly disappointed to see this. As a young adult and moving into my 20s, I have enjoyed your other books, considered myself a fan of your work, and saw you as a role model for YA writers. This breaks some of that trust. In the future at some point, issuing an apology is necessary. Since I am not a member of this community, I cannot accept any apology myself. But I hope you start to try and repair some of the damage you have done to the Romani Community.

As for the quality of the book/ content other than information discussed above, I was quite disappointed with the ending of the book. Personally, didn't enjoy the route chosen for the main character when it came to tying up loose ends in the duology. I appreciated the writing style, and overall I think Hollis was a good character, but I felt there wasn't necessarily development in the sense of her improving as a person. She seems like the same person as she was at the beginning for the book.

I love book two even more than book 1!!! There was romance, action, suspense, and love! It is a feel-good story with the main characters being good, loyal, and kind. It is what I needed to read during this time of unrest in the world.

I have so many mixed feelings about this story. At this time I'm still not sure how much I liked it.
