I loved this issue as well - I think the standalone issue 6 was stronger and I have a special affection for it because of the amazing response to a letter in the letters page - but this is great too.
This whole series is great.

Initial review thoughts: when I got this issue in the mail, I couldn't wait to get home and read it. Somehow though, it ended up sitting on my desk for nearly a month. I think I wasn't ready to get back to BP. I've been avoiding it. Sometimes I start filling up with inexplicable anxiety and seem unable to do anything, including read my favorite comic. This comic forces me to face all things I repress, and I usually have to be in a pretty healthy space to face them. For the last month, for various reasons, I haven't been there. But today I started turning things around and finally got to reading this issue. The storyline is setting up for some serious shit to hit the fan and I'm so excited to see where the creators take it! And the extra material at the end, the essays, letters, art, tweets, etc. was as impactful as always. Also, I learned a new word: kyriarchy. If you want to know me well, read this comic. NOW!

This issue was so intense and, as always, the backmatter was amazing. So excited for issue 8!

I like this one much better than #6. I think cause it went back to the original story, not that I mind the backstory, but eh. Anyways, this issue was more interesting to me, and I also like the article in the back about the Strong Black Female Archetype.

I like this comic, and I already know, that because of who I am, I'm a Non-compliant too. *kanye shrug*

One of the things I love about graphic novels is the lettering. A slight bold emphasis on a word affects the rhythm and tone of the script. This issue has a great script. I'm a big fan of the series, from the exposure of chauvinistic jokes to the thoughtful articles and celebration of fans in the back. And there's a podcast too? I'm nerding out right now, and it's a beautiful thing.

Cannot say enough good things about this comic. I continue to want a noncompliant tattoo, but haven't worked up the nerve.
