Long Story Short: When Joyce Meadowcroft is invited to join her retirement home's Thursday Murder Club, an eclectic group who investigate unsolved crimes, she jumps at the chance for a little adventure. Soon after, a murder occurs close to home, and the events that follow uproot secrets long hidden.
This story is a Matryoshka doll of novels - each revelation has another mystery inside. This is partially due to the sheer number of characters involved (24 listed in the Goodreads description, and I'm sure there are others). Considering the novel is titled The Thursday Murder Club and opens with Joyce being invited to join, I was surprised when there were so many POVs and side stories of many outside of the 4 in the group. I'm not fully on board with a few of the things that happened, but overall this was a fun (and funny) read that would also be good for a re-read. Several people in my book club say the series gets better as it goes along, with the fourth being the best, and I'd definitely be open to reading more about these characters.

My only qualm, perhaps, is how the final third felt both convoluted and a bit rushed, though everything came together in the end.
