Third in the series with laugh out loud moments, gore, and absurdity. I really enjoy Townsend's writing of the weird and frankly insane. My only tiny criticism is this installment feels a little long with a dip in action in the middle. Jerry continues to be my favorite character.

I went back to the gas station with a mixture of glee and trepidation.

Glee for the bonkers events and characters that so casually inhabit /terrorise the place. I absolutely adore Gerry, Travis makes me laugh and I enjoyed Rosa and her pockets. And Beau. Oh idiot Beau! Well I laughed like a drain.

Trepidation because I'm aware of how little it would take for the story to leave me unable to continue listening. Sometimes the things that happen to Jack are heart wrenching, but somehow, not sure how, the story manages to keep me listening where other stories have made me stop and never finish.

This volume was darker and more intense than the others but still laugh out loud funny and the usual roller coaster. The opening to this volume was joyously ludicrous and I loved it.

I've read a couple of reviews that said they didn't like the narration. Fair enough, each to their own. Personally, I love it, I find it spot on and it's given the story a dimension it wouldn't have had for me if I'd read it first.

I'm looking forward to the next visit with equal amounts of glee and trepidation

This series is so fun. I get a little lost once in a while but the characters are amazing and the weirdness doesn't get old or cliche. Can't recommend enough!
