Well I just read this in one day, it was okay. I didn’t really like female main character. However, I did really enjoy the male love interest and look forward to see how he in the other three become incorporated in her life as the series goes on. Smut was good tho. :)

Jess is the classic popular mean girl, the typical Head cheerleader who dated the school quarterback. Prom queen and all-around social climber her social standing means everything. She deemed Manson and his friends inferior and beneath her back in High school. According to Jess and the popular crowd, they were all losers and freaks. Much to her dismay she also developed an unfortunate crush, particularly on Manson whose locker was right next to hers not that she'd admit to any of this as that would have been social suicide. No, she's much more comfortable with the name-calling spreading of rumours and constant mean girl behaviour. When Manson's expelled for something that she's the catalyst for Jess typically takes zero responsibility though she does feel a smidgen of guilt for her part and attempts to warn him. When she then runs into Manson at a party after high school is finished she's surprised as she has not laid eyes on him since school but she can't help behaving in her usual mean girl fashion and Manson decides to take her down a peg or two.
What starts as a competitive game of beer pong one complete with dares and where Jess doesn't want to lose face swiftly morphs into much more and when she loses and accepts the consequences of being Manson's Slave for the evening things get very very interesting swiftly for Jess.
What a surprising hidden gem this turned out to be. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much and only picked it up as I'm planning on reading the series so thought I ought to start here with this intro novella. I'm not usually a Novella type of girlie. They very rarely do it for me. The short length never usually gives me the connection I'm after. But very rarely a novella comes along that breaks the mould and I can usually count them on one hand. The dare joins those exalted ranks and managed to push boundaries whilst also equally captivating and enthralling me.
The premise is executed well it managed to walk a fragile tightrope of consent and titillation. It was hot as heck whilst also being safe. I adored seeing Jess push her boundaries and the fact that she getting served some much-needed humble pie alongside the whole experience felt incredibly satisfying.
This was hot with a capital H there is a fair bit of smut in this one, but it felt like developed smut. Both Jess and Manson's engines were revving hard as this descended into one of the hottest novellas I've experienced to date. We have plenty of praise kink some light humiliation, lots of control, spanking, wax play, knife play, plenty of physical crawling. This one freaked me out a tad but clowns, yes I kid you not we have creepy clown costumes.
When Lucas, Vincent and Jason were introduced I was internally squealing. They've all got just as much beef with Jess as Manson has. They all have firsthand experience of Jess and her viciousness and now the tables have been turned and they all have the upper hand. This was a bloody smorgasbord of decadent delight and I licked it up like catnip.
Honestly, this was such an easy well well-written read with some very distinctive characters it was so good, especially considering that it's a novella. I'm definitely on board for the series as a whole and can't wait to get started. On a side note, I will say I've no idea why this got banned at one point as there's nothing majorly shocking here and I've read so much worse. This also has a heavy focus on consent as well. Everything here is absolutely consensual. Jess gets off on the illusion of having no choice and having her usual power stripped from her. Give this one a go if you like your spice with heat and heart it was excellent.

This was better than expected, and I don't know what I was expecting. Very spicy, lots of degradation, etc etc but I liked the flashes of vulnerability and truth Manson showed, and the communication was top tier!
