Is this non-fiction? I don't know what it classifies itself, but I'll say it's a non-fiction.

This has so many small entries about myths and odd historical events. It's not gory or particularly scary -except the doll entry, that was terrifying- but it's like a history of scary stuff.

I wasn't very into it but I was on a very long road-trip so I got over half of it done and the rest was easy to get through.

The book starts out with some background history on the myth of Dracula. I was immediately pulled into the book. I loved the story of Dracula and I also happen to love learning the history behind such legends and myths. From there, the book kind of slows down a bit and changes course to more of an "unsolved mysteries" style. There are many tales of folks who swear they saw werewolves or sea monsters. The legends of course are often regional - monsters habitating a particular part of the US where the "local witnesses swear they've seen it crossing the road as they were driving home late one night!" When I was a kid, I used to LOVE those kinds of stories because I wanted to believe the missing evidence just made the story all the more mysterious and alluring. I wanted to believe in big foot and the Lochness monster. But, no so much anymore.
