A pleasant winter read but with such a similar plot to the first two books, I think I would have been incredibly bored if I read them back to back

So here's the think, I lowkey hate Elizabeth.
She keeps doing the thing I hate in protagonists - keeps making the same mistakes that multiple people at multiple different times (throughout the whole series) have told her not to do. And she never seems to learn or reflect on her mistakes.
Overall, not highly impressed with this series. I'll recommend it to other readers, but personally, it wasn't it for me.

The puzzles and mystery are ever present in Winterhouse, regardless of the season or holiday. We finally see Elizabeth in Winterhouse as a permanent resident. Elana is still stuck in an old lady's body. Griselda is a looming threat. And Freddy is still balancing Elizabeth as she controls her powers.
I felt this was a satisfying conclusion to the Winterhouse trilogy. It had had the heart and mystery as the first two. But I felt like it wasn't as strong as the other two books. Maybe it's because it was clear where the story was going that it didn't have the same magic as the first two. Perhaps Winterhouse #3 needed the spirit of Christmas. But regardless of that, it was still a good read.

3.5-4 stars A sweet ending to a fun trilogy full of atmosphere and mystery. Some of the plot was redundant over 3 books, but the house, ancestry, and puzzles were enjoyable.
