Started out cute/silly like the first book. However, this one took a turn I wasn’t expecting. Quite frankly, it was so bonkers that I can’t continue on in this story. I will try the third book in the series, because I don’t think what didn’t work for me in this one happens.
Learned something new about myself: tentacles are not my jam.  🐙 yikes

One again, Lemming blows me away with a riot of a story! Brie is just living her light, but one annoying man's advances end up with Brie throwing a drink and it hitting someone else. Turns out that someone is a werewolf and turns out that drink is a love potion. Whoops! While our werewolf, Felix, is certain that Brie's his fated mate, despite Brie's protests. Fortunately, the love potion should wear off in two weeks, but can Brie hold out that long? What will happen to this couple once the potion wears off?

This one is told in dual pov which I think is a great touch since we can see Brie's struggles and issues but also the werewolf Felix's mind. With him, we can see into his views on romance and why he's certain Brie is his mate but he also acknowledges the potion's affect on him. Seeing how both of them see this situation adds some wonderful tension.

It's also great to see how the world is changing after the events in the first novel, with demons now free from the evil witch's curse. It adds a lot of charm and comedy as we see the two species try to get along, though not without a few struggles here and there, some more serious than others. Makes me curious how this side of the worldbuidling will progress in the series!

This is a beautiful mix of romance, hilarity, and suspense. I absolutely adore this series and will definitely be reading the next one soon enough!

I picked this up for a funny and whimsical romance but ended up being put off by most of the romance scenes due to the love interest's possessive behaviour. In stead of a funny romance, this read to me as some kind of twisted Stockholm syndrome-ish relationship with a plot that twists towards the end so much that I can't wrap my head around it (
a cult kidnapping women to be used to awaken a dormant god-parasite???
).
The possessiveness doesn't get better
; if it did, I would give this book a higher rating.

The love interest is a werewolf who thinks the FMC is his fated mate, but he is also under the influence of a love potion, so there's guesswork whether his feelings are real or not. This possible double reason for insta-love makes him behave impulsively and wanting to claim the FMC as his.

I pulled her down, letting the desperation and possessiveness run free. [--] She didn't love me yet, I knew that, but damn it, she would.

Even if this book is ment to make fun of these kinds of tropes, I only see horrifying red flags in the werewolf's behaviour:
the werewolf goes to the court house and forces the workers there to sign him a marriage license to be married with the FMC without her being there or without her knowledge/consent, and at the same time he changes her surname to his. Then he moves into her house. And the smutty scenes... he's very possessive then as well.
🚩 Moreover, the smut gets very weird.
Tentacle weird.

🚩
The werewolf recognizes that he is possessive and even manipulative, but doesn't see that as a problem:
"I am [stalking the FMC]", I snapped, "No, wait, I'm not stalking, not anymore anyway, she wants me around now."

I should have checked the content warnings more thoroughly before picking this book up, even though I usually don't need to do that especially with books I expect to be lighthearted.

I was so excited to get the ARC for this book. I have seen rave reviews for this series all over tiktok. Unfortunately, the story didn’t quite live up to the hype. The medieval vibes with modern duologue and slang didn’t fit as nicely as I had hoped. But I was better adjusted to it after reading the first book.

This was a werewolf shifter romance. One where the FMC was obsessed with werewolf shifter books, so she kept breaking the fourth wall to talk about her book plots and comparing them to her life. It was tongue in cheek and irreverent, but in an annoying way.

The world building was barely there and what was there was so slap-dash that much of it was sidelined bad dialogue and rushed plot. The end seemed so out of place with what the whole rest of the book was about. Far too intense for the tone of the book.

I wanted to like this. But I just didn’t.

This was a fun read. I would describe it as a cozy monster romance. I have not read the first book in the series, but I was still able to figure out the world and how everyone was connected. Brie accidentally throws a love potion at a werewolf, and now Felix is acting like she is his fated mate. Is their relationship destined to last or are his emotions being influenced by the love potion?

Oh how I love the adventures of Boohail. Book 2 in the Mead Mishaps series gives us the wild love story of Brie and Felix. This had all of my favorite aspects of shifter romances with some added mystery and a closer look into Brie and Cinnamon’s friendship. Like it’s predecessors this was fun and incredibly steamy with all of the best parts of high stakes fantasy.
