Holy moly, the audible version of this book is fantastic and really makes it. Give Adjoa Andoh an Oscar for her performance! She not only captured the emotion and tone of each and every character (there were a ton) she perfectly performed English, Irish, Creole, Island and other accents, in many genders, varying different ages, like she was born with it. I highly recommend listening to this book vs reading it!
As for the actual story, I enjoyed it. Was it my fav this year so far? No, but much like the Mermaid and Mrs. Hancock, stories this big wax and wane, they have peaks and valleys. But the journey was so worth it. I think this would make a great tv series like Downton Abbey. So many characters and plot lines made this a challenge to finish, but I’m very glad I did.
