I was not at all prepared to feel as much as I did while reading this book. Truth be told, I almost stopped reading halfway through after putting it down for a few days too long. However I was determined to give it another chance and was immediately glad I did. I was not expecting that plot twist at the end of the book though and I cried more than I expected to during this book. Why did nobody tell me?

This is the second book I have ever read to make me cry!
It sets you up to root for Jameson and Silas grew on me.
I’ve determined if a man doesn’t look at me and treat me the way Silas treated Hollis I DONT WANT IT!
I want vengeance for that boy and his family! I’m tempted to re-read it to appreciate all the moments I had with Silas appropriately. I feel Silas knew the Knights were on their way the second she told him the queen lost her third child. I didn’t realize it until I looked back.
My heart is broken. Thank you Kiera Cass for a beautiful book and I’ll be on the edge of my computer screen waiting to preorder the next book.

Not sure why this is noted as lighthearted…? Very heavy and intense in the end

I actually really like Kiera Cass’ books - I’ve read the entire Selection series top to tail twice - but this one was rough. I have no good sense of the main character’s personality, aside from what her love interests told her she was. I read the book in about three days, so I can’t really say it was awful, but it just felt flat. Not her best work at all, but I will probably read the sequel whenever it arrives, because the plot twist near the end was mind boggling and ya girl needs some resolution.
