Tre orfani, un libro magico che permette di viaggiare nel tempo, una perfida Contessa da sconfiggere, una famiglia da riunire... e tutto comincia in una nevosa notte della Vigilia di Natale.
Davvero un bella avventura!

I simply adored reading this book! It reminded me a bit of The Mysterious Benedict Society (orphans on a quest..), but (!) it was quite different from it and as soon as I read a few chapters, I was emerged into the story!

My initial thoughts are:

1. The characters were great. I loved the relationship between the siblings (especially the love-hate one between Emma and Michael), their relationships with other characters (I LOVED the one between Emma and Gabriel, so adorable!), their fierceness, their want and need for their parents.
2. Action! Action everywhere! There was not a chapter where either something happened or something was revealed that the kids (and the reader) did not know about before. I couldn't stop reading; I was enthralled!
3. I loved how magic was incorporated into the story; into this world and it seems like the Emerald Atlas will make another appearance in the sequel.
4. This book was definitely middle grade, but I didn't have the feeling as if I was being talked down to; the story was so much fun and there were so many emotions involved; I could not help but love this one.
5. The only thing I regret is the fact that I bought this book a very long time ago and that I picked it up just now. I think it's time to purchase the sequels! :D

Found this book in the Abbey’s children section the other day and it made me so nostalgic! I’m sure I still have the journal somewhere in which I wrote my own version of a similar story, with me as the main character, of course.
