a little harry potter, a little lemony snicket, a little narnia, tossed together. although many of the elements are familiar, the story was fun.
This was an excellent, and surprising, read. Very well done characters, and interesting YA plot that didn't involve teen love of the typical paranormal YA sort. I'll be watching for the second book.

I'm sure if I read this at a different point in my life I would have finished it but I really just can't put up with this crap anymore. So many good/great books out there that I'm refuse to waste my time on this.
