I absolutely LOVED The Emerald Atlas. I cannot wait to read the next installment of the trilogy! I loved the characters (so much I can't decide on a favorite). The plot was fast at some points and slower at others which balanced out nicely.
The only tiny problem I had with The Emerald Atlas was some info dumps (telling, whatever you call it). Especially when the children kept meeting Dr. Pym further and further back in time. By the third time the author didn't tell the reader every detail that the children told Dr. Pym but the reader was told the general subjects that the children covered (if I remember correctly).
But this did not bother me enough to make my enjoyment of the book even less. In the end the info in the info dumps was very important to the story. I highly recommend this book to anybody because it is fabulous!

Great YA read
Loved everything about it. Am looking forward to reading the others in the series. Along with everything else by the author.

I cannot say more good things about this book.
This is a classic kids/YA fantasy - three orphan children who trip up on a magical book that can transport them through time, and it turns out that they're the centerpieces in a major event. While the plot is somewhat boilerplate, it's handled so perfectly that one barely notices it. Plus, the book is really significantly action packed, and so well paced that the twists and turns of the plot kept me hooked in the entire time.
What impressed me the most, however, was that this book had something most books for this age group lacks - a sense of danger. Very early on, the children are put in real peril, and there's a significant question as to whether they'll make it. Many of the battle scenes are seriously dangerous and fairly violent, and it only adds to the suspense of the whole thing. Even many books for adults don't play so closely to the edge this well.
This easily rocketed up to the top of my list of great YA reads. I have no clue when the next book in the series is supposed to come out, but I really truly can't wait for this. What a great, great read.

I love the magical intrigue. The whole different time lines thing reminds me of Doctor Who..... as well as a little mind bloggling. The idea of Emma, Kate, and Michael each being connected to the books of beginings is such a smart move on Stephens part. I wonder who The Fire Chronicle will connect to? This book had my attension every time i sat down to read it.
I have been reccomending this book to a few people and I noticed I never really put a review of it because I had read this before I had GoodReads, but this is literally one of the best fantasy books I have ever read! (next to Harry Potter ofcourse) and I really think more people should read this because there is not enough people who know about this book and who I can fangirl with!
Okay so the book has characters in it that are young, the oldest one (Kate) is 14. The children stay arround that age through out the 3 books. It was a little hard for me to really get into the book, but when I was finally really into it, I had it finished in no time!! With the second book as well, I had it finished in 2 days which was very quick for me at that time.
This story containts dwarfs, elves, magic, amazingness, mystery and a whole more epic things so if you haven't read it go read it! This series has only 3 books, so it will only take a short moment to really read them so go! :)

This story threw me back to childlhood when I was reading Narnia Chronicles and the Hobbit - the adventure and hope of childhood. Great story, can't wait for the rest.
Kate, Michael, and Emma P. are orphans and for the past ten years these siblings have been moved from orphanage to orphanage. The newest place they have ended up is Cambridge Falls, and after arriving here the trio discovers a book allows them to travel through time. Kate, Emma, and Michael learn that their destiny is bigger than they ever could have imagined and their lives are never the same again!
This was an exciting and magical novel that had a definitely feel of the Harry Potter series. I think that this could have been partly because the narrator for this audio book (Jim Dale) is the same as the one for those books, but either way I was pulled into this mysterious world that the P. Children have found themselves in. There are witches and wizards, an army of Screechers, bloodthirsty wolves, and an unlikely ally in the form of dwarfs. I also enjoyed hearing the three different stories of the various siblings and with a prophecy predicting the children will need to find more magical books I cannot wait to see where their time travels will take them!
This is a great choice for both a book club read and for listening to the audio book in class. Jim Dale is a superb performer and this audio book is just another great example of that. He does a fantastic job of capturing different voices for each character allowing me, as a listener, to really fall into the book. It is a fairly long audio book, ten discs in total, so it would be a great choice for a classroom setting at the start of a semester to enjoy.

Listened to the audio book on road trips this summer - excellent narration by Jim Dale (I think he also did the Harry Potter audiobook series). Super sibling adventure/time travel/magic book (part 1 of a trilogy).
