I have never reacted so much to a book before. So many surprises, good suspense, great story, great writing. Can't wait for the next one!

The through line of this book was weak. There were clearly beats and plot points that needed to be hit, but there was no impetus or movement for them. They didn't feel earned rightly. I get what the author was going for, but it was slippery.

That being said, the book kicks like a mule,l at times.

After what felt like 40 identical descriptions of how the protagonist pushed his anger down inside him before going off for more derring-do I literally yelled “I can’t take this any more” and gave up.

I wish I could give this book 10 stars. It was amazing from first to last page - amazing, exciting, heartbreaking, and about as major a cliff hanger as one can get.

I adore Toot-Toot.

And James Marsters does a delightful job reading this.

The changes are hard ones.

Stakes have never been this high in the Dresden files. Emotions are ramped up as Butcher shows his true craftmanship as an author. Dresden has to bet everything and everyone in his blood-chilling race to save his daughter. I laughed, I cried, I agonized and my breath got stuck reading this book.

Changes is a book that delivers what it promises. It throws the world upside down and many of this series characters we've come to love will come out of it unchanged. And nothing is what it seems. It contains some of the best magical battles in the series and both enemies and allies are upgraded one more level in power and influence. So strong that Dresden has to find quick ways to increase his own power.

I can gush on and on, but if you read it, I'm telling you nothing new. If you haven't read it, stop reading this and start the book!
