A sometimes interesting, sometimes difficult read. The narrative voice was fantastic, and it was so fascinating to see a near-perfect mirror image of current technology written ~35 years ago. I also find it especially interesting that while Stephenson kind of quietly lambasts the metaverse in the novel, he was a cypto/NFT/blockchain investor back in 2021. Very ironic.

The difficult parts were the pacing and the HUGE infodumps on Sumerian alternate history, which were not done in an interesting or engaging or even relevant way. I just mashed the side of my phone to skip those pages and resumed reading once, like, plot happened. This took much longer than it should have. I do wish Y.T. had been aged up a little--not because of the sex stuff (I legitimately don't care; she's not real)--but because her behaviour felt a little old for her age.

Glad I've read it, but I won't be reading it again.

A very fantastical story full of cool tech that was way ahead of its time. I have to admit that I found chunks of it hard to follow, but it was ver entertaining.

meh. maybe pick it up again in the future, just didn’t connect with any character

Thee most '90s dudebro sci fi novel out there, I think. For some, this is a recommendation. For others, this is a warning.

It was a well written novel, but I struggled with the Librarian and Hiro talk back forth about religion chapters (I wonder how Stephenson felt when ChatGTP became so ubiquitous). Y. T. was my favourite character but holy moly could we please stop pointing out she's 15 and wants older men. Did I really have to be in the room for the sex scene? I get it happens and I get there's no more laws in this cyberpunk word but. C'mon, dude. She's fifteen.

Snow Crash was okay. There were several large holes and difficult to believe leaps that the author left, but it was still fun.
