It took me years to get up the courage to read this book. Maddy’s story was absolutely heartbreaking. You really only know what people are willing to share. I finished this book feeling so sad for Maddy and for all those who loved her.
I did feel the story telling format to be confusing and choppy at times, perhaps with a bit too much of the author’s own experience, but it was an important story to tell and I’m glad that I read it. I feel it’s always valuable to try to understand someone else’s perspective, even if it’s difficult to understand.

Having never been in the place where Maddy was, I cannot imagine her desperation. I think Kate Fagan did an admirable and responsible job dealing with a very difficult topic.

Raw and real. Shatters your heart into a million pieces.
Phenomenally important.
I could not write a better review than what has already been written; the most liked review hits it on point.
Everyone who knows or has a child/teen/young adult should read this book. I'm thinking about it so much and am already planning how I will change the interactions I have with the kids I know and/or love.
