A really enjoyable read! Excellent pacing and I loved this take on the heist trope- a middle aged female pirate comes out of retirement for one last job and has to get the old gang back together with a 12th century supernatural Indian Ocean as a backdrop. Great characters and points of view, and lgbtqia friendly too.

I loved this book and I can’t wait for the rest of the trilogy.

This book was SO incredible. I loved the exciting plot, the very real geography, the incredibly fierce female leads, the pirates, the magical creatures, the cultures, and the realness of a middle aged pirate coming back from retirement - aches and all! At first I was worried about the length of this book, but I had it in my hand every moment I was free to read. I’m glad it wasn’t shorter. My only disappointment is realizing that it only came out last month so I’ll have to wait a while to read what happens next! Thanks to book of the month club, otherwise I’m not sure I would have ever picked it up.
